Smart Car
The Smart car, Swatch a Swiss watch manufacturer hoped to produce was the Swatchmobile. This was a mini compact 250 cm long car which made it easy to park. Several automobile makers were approached to help build the vehicle, but it did not evolve until 1994 when the Mini Compact Car AG was established as a joint venture between Daimler-Benz and Swatch.
The Smart city-coupe was launched in Frankfurt , Germany in 1997 and within a year the vehicles were selling throughout Europe . Several models were offered, the Smart FortwoB, Smart Fortwo cabriolet the Smart Car custom LCB. But the vehicle proved to be uneconomical to build to comply with the safety regulations of many countries and the company ran into financial difficulty. Swatch pulled out and the brand lingered in the doldrums until Smart GmbH was liquidated in 2006 in Europe . Smart cars however, can still be found in China , Japan , Taiwan
