Maserati
Maserati is a builder of racing cars and sports cars founded in 1914 in Italy. Maserati began making race cars with 4, 6, 8 and 16 cylinders, which were actually two straight eights mounted parallel. A 16 cylinder town car was specially made for Benito Mussolini the Italian Dictator in the 1930s and another for Adolf Hitler.
In 1968 the Company was owned by Citroen and built the Maserati Bora, Merak and Khamsin Coupe until the 1973 oil crisis shrunk demands for thirsty sports cars. Maserati barely survived when in 1993 it was acquired by Fiat and being sold to its rival Ferrari. But, in 2005 the Maserati luxury vehicles were bought back by Fiat who produce the 4-door Quattroporte and Gran Turismo 4 seat coupe.
